I Built 5 SaaS Products in One Summer Using AI as My Co-Developer

How one founder went from idea to profitable SaaS products in 8 weeks using AI-assisted development instead of building alone.

I Built 5 SaaS Products in One Summer Using AI as My Co-Developer

When I finished my last full-time job, I had a weird advantage: I'd worked with dozens of small businesses. I noticed they all had the same problems.

They forgot to follow up on invoices. Contractors lost estimates that should have been easy closes. Everyone was flying blind on their competitors. Uptime mattered, but no one was monitoring it. Product decisions happened based on who complained loudest, not actual data.

Same problems, over and over.

I started thinking: what if I could build software to solve these? Not one product. Five. Each one solving a single problem.

The problem was, I'd never built anything this fast before. I'd be working alone. No team. And the clock was ticking.

Then I started using Claude Code.

The Turning Point

I'd work for maybe two hours. I'd explain the problem I was trying to solve. I'd describe the feature, the user flow, the database structure. Claude would write the code. Not pseudocode. Actual, working code.

I'd test it, find the edge cases, ask for refinements. Claude would fix them. We'd iterate like a real dev team, except the iteration cycle was minutes instead of days.

By week two, I had working prototypes for all five products. By week four, I had features that people could actually use.

By the end of the summer, I had five products generating real revenue.

What Each One Does

VoteGoat lets users request and vote on features. Instead of guessing what to build, you see what users actually want.

InvoiceGoat automatically reminds clients to pay their invoices. It turns late payment from a source of stress into a solved problem.

QuoteGoat sends automatic follow-ups on estimates for contractors. Most estimates die because nobody follows up. Automation changes that.

RivalGoat monitors your competitors' websites and tells you what changed. No more finding out you've been undercut when you lose a deal.

UptimeGoat pings your website constantly and alerts you if it goes down. Your business doesn't stay online by accident.

What Surprised Me

The first surprise was how much difference one tool makes. A freelancer implements InvoiceGoat and gets paid 20 days faster. That's meaningful.

The second surprise was how these problems are universal. A contractor in Tampa has the same invoice problem as a SaaS founder in Portland has an uptime problem. Scale doesn't matter.

The third surprise was that people want simple. Every product I built, I fought the urge to add complexity. Every time I killed a feature to keep things simple, adoption went up. People don't want powerful tools. They want tools that solve one problem, extremely well.

What I'd Do Different

I'd have started with AI-assisted development sooner. The time I spent setting up infrastructure, debugging errors, dealing with deployment issues—Claude Code eliminated so much of that friction.

I'd also have focused even more on the single-problem approach. Each product does one thing. It sounds limiting, but it's actually liberating. You're not competing with everything. You're the best at one specific thing.

Why This Matters Beyond My Story

You don't need a team to build something meaningful. You need a problem worth solving and the right tools.

The right tools now include an AI that understands your code, your architecture, and your intent well enough to be a real development partner.

If I can build five SaaS products in one summer alone, working part-time, what's possible for someone with more time or more ambition?

Next Chapter

Each product is generating enough revenue to support itself. That's the dream: products that fuel their own growth.
