Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Bilt.ly (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Bilt.ly (“we,” “us,” or “our”), operated from Tampa, Florida.
2. Description of Service
Bilt.ly provides URL shortening services, link management tools, click analytics, and related features. The Service is offered in free and paid subscription tiers as described on our pricing page.
3. Account Registration
To access certain features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, maintain the security of your account credentials, and notify us immediately of any unauthorized access. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service.
4. Subscription Plans and Billing
4.1 Free Tier
The free tier is provided at no cost subject to usage limits as described on our pricing page. We reserve the right to modify free tier limits at any time with reasonable notice.
4.2 Paid Subscriptions
Paid subscriptions (Silver, Gold, and Platinum) are billed on a monthly or annual basis as selected at checkout. All payments are processed securely through Stripe.
4.3 No Refunds
All subscription payments are non-refundable. When you cancel a subscription, you will retain access to your paid tier features until the end of your current billing period — monthly or annual — after which your account will revert to the free tier. No partial refunds or prorations are issued for unused time.
4.4 Annual Subscriptions
Annual subscriptions are billed as a single upfront payment covering twelve months of access. Cancellation of an annual subscription takes effect at the end of the twelve-month period with no refund for remaining months.
4.5 Platinum Annual Upfront Plan
The Platinum Annual Upfront plan includes 10 lifetime custom short codes. These codes remain active and yours to keep even if you cancel your subscription, provided the codes were created during your active subscription period. The annual payment for this plan is non-refundable.
4.6 Price Changes
We reserve the right to change subscription pricing with 30 days notice. Existing subscribers will be notified by email before any price change takes effect.
5. Link Expiration and Data Retention
5.1 Guest Links
Links created without an account expire after 7 days and cannot be recovered after expiration.
5.2 Free Tier Links
Links created on the free tier expire after 30 days. Custom codes expire after 3 days unless renewed.
5.3 Silver Tier Links
Links expire after 90 days. Upon cancellation of a Silver subscription, all non-custom links will expire immediately. Custom short codes expire at the end of the billing period.
5.4 Gold Tier Links
Links expire after 180 days or on a user-selected date up to 180 days. Upon cancellation links revert to free tier expiry rules.
5.5 Platinum Tier Links
Links do not expire while the subscription is active. Upon cancellation links revert to free tier expiry rules, with the exception of lifetime custom codes as described in Section 4.5.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the Service to shorten, share, or distribute links to:
- Malware, viruses, or malicious software
- Phishing pages or fraudulent content
- Illegal content including but not limited to child sexual abuse material
- Content that violates any applicable law or regulation
- Spam or unsolicited communications
We reserve the right to disable any short link that violates these terms without notice.
7. Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of any content you link to through the Service. You grant Bilt.ly a limited license to display and process your links solely for the purpose of providing the Service. The Bilt.ly name, logo, and platform are our intellectual property and may not be used without permission.
8. Privacy
Our collection and use of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the Service you consent to our data practices as described in the Privacy Policy.
9. Click Analytics and Data
Click data including timestamps, device type, referrer, and country is collected for links you create. This data is available to you through your dashboard according to your subscription tier. We do not sell individual click data to third parties.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the Service is at your sole risk.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bilt.ly shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
12. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms. Upon termination your links will be disabled and your data may be deleted after 30 days. You may delete your account at any time from your settings page.
13. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Hillsborough County, Florida.
14. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
